Club Statement: Departure of Danny Forrest

Thackley AFC are sad to confirm that Manager Danny Forrest has departed the Club following an approach from Liversedge FC.

Danny joined Thackley AFC in January 2023 and has made a significant impact during his time at the Club. When arriving the Club were looking to rebuild and had been at risk of relegation. However, after joining initially as Joint Manager with Tom Greaves and subsequently taking over as sole Manager in the summer of 2024, Danny has overseen a change of fortunes on the pitch and has built a squad which challenged for a play off place in 2023/2024, before achieving the Play-Offs in the 2024/25 season.

We would like to place on record our sincere thanks to Danny for his dedication, hard work, and the progress made under his leadership. His achievements with us we knew would mean that he would inevitably attract interest from other clubs, and we always knew that, given his success, opportunities elsewhere would arise. Liversedge FC, who have operated at Step 4 and Step 3 over recent seasons, have presented Danny with a new challenge and an opportunity he felt he could not refuse at this stage of his Managerial career.

We can also sadly announce that Danny will depart alongside his backroom staff — Matthew Dempsey, Tom Higman and Ben Higginson — and we would like to express our gratitude to them all for their efforts and commitment during their time at Thackley AFC.

We wish Danny, Matthew, Tom and Ben the very best in their new roles and thank them for everything they have contributed to the Club.

Further announcements regarding the management structure will be made in due course including details of an application process for the now vacant post. Whilst we know that this news will be greeted with sadness from the Thackley AFC supporters, please rest assured that the Club will be working hard to make an appointment as swiftly as possible following an application process, and to use the current off season to provide the new Management team with the best opportunities to fully prepare for pre-season.
