Following a thorough interview process, Jamie was identified as the outstanding candidate to lead the club forward. His vision, professionalism, and leadership qualities stood out, and we are confident he is the right person to continue the development of the team and build upon the strong foundations already in place and left by the departing management team.

As a player, Jamie enjoyed a distinguished career at both professional and non-league levels. Jamie started his career in the Leeds United academy, before moving on and making 75 professional football league appearances for both Doncaster Rovers and York City. Jamie went on to make over 800 non-league appearances spanning every level of the pyramid, including appearing for Harrogate Town, Farsley Celtic, Bradford (Park Avenue), Garforth, Ossett, Scarborough and Emley.

It was at Emley that Jamie took his first steps into coaching, where he combined his playing role with a place on the staff with Richard Tracey and assisted in their rise through the NCEL divisions. Jamie would then move to Selby Town in June 2023, and transitioned again into a coaching role at Selby in February 2024 where he joins the Dennyboys from.

It is testament to Jamie that at each team he has been at he has worn the Captain’s arm band, underlining his natural leadership and commitment on and off the pitch—qualities that we believe will be instrumental in his new role at Thackley AFC.

In addition, Jamie brings valuable experience from his time in coaching roles with Selby Town and Emley AFC, where he has demonstrated a clear ability to identify and develop players spanning a range of divisions.

Chairman Ben Oliver had the following to say about the appointment:

“We are delighted that Jamie is joining us. Unfortunately, since the Play Off Semi Final match against Hallam FC, we have had to go through an unexpected and enforced period of change and uncertainty. We wanted to ensure that we took time to make the right appointment to try and continue the good work and foundations left by the previous management team, but we are conscious that the new season will also quickly be upon us. We believe in Jamie that we have made the appointment of a good, ambitious and well-connected young Manager who is keen to forge his own path now leading a team.

Whilst we have taken a few weeks to ensure that the appointment was made properly, we have been working hard behind the scenes as a Club and committee and have a pre-season schedule lined up [announcements made in due course] for Jamie to come in and hopefully add a final fixture or two to tailor it to his needs, as well as further preparation work to make sure he can come in and hit the ground running. We know that there is going to be an element of a rebuild this summer, and we wanted to make sure that the person appointed could come in and start work straight away focussing solely on football and managing the team. We look forward to working with and supporting Jamie moving forwards.”

“I am absolutely delighted to have been given the opportunity to manage at a fantastic club such as Thackley AFC. After meeting everyone and feeling the passion they have for the Club and the plans for the future I knew it was the right place to start my managerial journey. I would like to thank the Committee and everyone at Thackley AFC for putting their faith in me and I look forward with working with them all to drive the whole Club forward together as a team."
