Greaves steps up from his former role as Assistant Manager, and will be assisted both by First Team Coach, Harley Hirst, as well as by Senior Players Kris Hargreaves and Aidan Chippendale. Chris Holland will continue to lead the Thackley AFC Reserve Team and this position is un-changed.

Greaves joined the Dennyboys in the summer of 2022 as Player / Assistant Manager, and he is currently the second joint top scorer in the division with 18 goals in all competitions. Greaves has previous managerial experience at FC United of Manchester and will lead Thackley AFC until further notice, and until a long term successor is announced.

Hirst, who was promoted to First Team Coach in the summer of 2022, remains in his position and will provide continued support to Greaves in managing First Team affairs. Senior members of the playing squad Hargreaves and Chippendale will also assist Greaves and Hirst in this period. Hargreaves is a long standing Thackley player and a highly qualified coach in his own right. Chippendale joined the Dennyboys in the summer of 2022, and in addition to his 14 goals this season has a wealth of experience from his time as a former professional footballer with Bradford City, Huddersfield Town, York City, Inverness Caledonian Thistle, Accrington Stanley and Bury FC.

The Club are thankful to all four for taking charge of First Team affairs. The Club is confident that Greaves and the team appointed have the experience both from their playing and coaching backgrounds as well as knowledge of the squad to turn around the Club's current form whilst the search for a long term successor begins.

Greaves and the team took First Team training yesterday evening in preparation for this weekend's game (weather permitting) against Hallam.
