A dramatic last day of NCEL Premier Division action saw the Dennyboys' 3-0 home victory against Barton Town secure 5th place in the League and a spot in the Play Offs.

The below sets out all the information which the Club has to hand at the moment for next week's Semi Final Play Off fixture against Hallam FC, including ticket prices / availability and official supporter travel.

Play Offs - 2024/2025

There has been a battle for the Play Offs which saw a final day shoot out for the last two Play Off spots between Thackley, Albion Sports and Beverley Town to join Hallam FC (2nd) and Golcar United (3rd) who had already secured their spots.

Thackley came into the game needing to better the results of either Albion Sports and / or Beverley Town to make the cut. Beverley Town scored a 90th minute winner away at Tadcaster Albion which meant that they secured 4th spot, and Albion Sports were defeated 3-1 away at Handsworth FC. This meant that Thackley's 3-0 home victory was enough to secure 5th spot, the final Play Off position, and meant Albion Sports were the unfortunate ones who this time missed out.

All at Thackley congratulate Albion Sports on another impressive league campaign, and put on record its thanks for the kind messages which have been sent since yesterday from "The Lions" to Thackley AFC - our two Clubs have always shared a respectful rivalry built primarily on friendship between us, and we have no doubt you will be back strong next season.

Format and fixtures

Thackley AFC (5th place) will travel to Hallam FC (2nd place) at their Sandygate ground on 12 April 2025 (3pm KO) for a one game Play Off semi final fixture.

The remaining fixture sees Beverley Town (4th place) travel to Golcar United (3rd place) for the other semi final.

The winner of each fixture will play each other in a one game Play Off final on 19 April 2025 (3pm). The venue for the fixture will be determined, and will be played at the ground of the finalist that ended the regular season highest in the table.

This would mean that if Thackley are able to overcome Hallam FC in the semi-final, that the "final" would also be an away game at the winner of Golcar United v Beverley Town (i.e. there will be no "home" fixture whatever happens in the Play Offs this season for Thackley).

Hallam FC - Ground Information

Hallam FC play their home matches at Sandygate, officially recognised as "The Oldest Football Ground in the World".

Travel directions from the NCEL Website are as follows:

General Ground Directions:
A57 Sheffield to Glossop Rd, left at Crosspool shopping area signed Lodge Moor on to Sandygate Rd. Ground half mile on left. 51 bus from Crucible Theatre.

Public Transport:
Station: Sheffield 3¼ miles. First South Yorkshire 51 from Sheffield (Arundel Gate, 9 minutes walk from station) to Sheffield (Sandygate Road, Coldwell Lane) five times per hour, journey time 20 minutes.

Ticket Information

Hallam FC have confirmed that their Sandygate ground can hold a crowd of 1,500. Tickets will be available for online purchase from Hallam FC's website from 10am this morning, Sunday 6 April 2025, at the following link:

At the moment, Hallam FC have informed us that there will be "pay on the gate" available. However, supporters will know that Hallam FC have had some big crowds over recent years and we therefore encourage supporters to purchase ahead online at the link to ensure that your ticket is secured and to avoid disappointment.

Ticket prices have been confirmed at £6 adults, £4 concessions and u12s free with a paying adult.

Supporter Travel

Thackley AFC will be providing a coach for supporters to the fixture. In the first instance, please complete the below Google form to express your interest in travelling on the official Club coach.

We are still finalising details given the short turnaround times, but we expect the Coach to depart from the Meridian Stadium at Dennyfield at around 11.15am. This is to ensure that there is timely arrival at Sandygate, given that traffic is likely to be heavy as Sheffield Wednesday have a home fixture that same date (the route from Thackley to Hallam passing close to Sheffield Wednesday's Hillsborough ground).

Again, whilst details are being confirmed we are anticipating the cost per person of Coach travel will be £15 per person, which includes travel to / from Sandygate, Sheffield, and with the Coach returning around 1 hour after the fixture has ended (depending on extra time etc).

Conclusion

Securing our Play Off place on the final date of the season has meant that our plans for travel / tickets may develop through the week. We will attempt to keep supporters as informed as possible and encourage you to keep an eye on our social media pages and emails (if applying for Coach travel) where communications will be sent. This ensures checking any "junk" folders to ensure that the Thackley domains have permission to be received.
