Thackley AFC are pleased to announce the addition of Connor Cowan to the Reserve team coaching staff. Cowan is a UEFA licensed coach and joins the club in a player/coach capacity.

Reserve Team manager Chris Holland said of the appointment:

“I’ve been working hard over the Christmas break to refresh things as we look to kick on and get promoted this season, my priority was bringing in a quality coach who can help me get our principles and tactics across to our young squad. After speaking with a number of interested candidates Connor was the stand-out coach, the sessions he’s delivered since coming in have been really well received by the players.

He’s also a useful addition to the playing squad, capable of playing a number of positions. Connor is passionate about his coaching and winning games of football, I’m very excited to work alongside him.”

Cowan was in the dugout for the first time as the Reserves drew 1-1 away at second-placed Rothwell.

Cowan said:

“I’m delighted to be joining Chris in a player/coach role. We share the same expectation of gaining promotion at the end of the season. We have a very capable group of players in the dressing room that can achieve that.”
