Thackley AFC Ladies can today confirm that Steve Winterburn has decided to step down from his role as First Team Manager.
Steve has led the Dennygirls through an outstanding period, guiding the team to a historic League title in the West Riding County Women's Football League (WRCWFL) First Division during an unforgettable invincible season. Under his leadership, the team also secured a memorable League Cup triumph, overcoming several Premier Division sides en route to lifting the trophy.
The Club would like to express its sincere thanks to Steve for his dedication, leadership, and the incredible success he brought during his time in charge. He leaves with our very best wishes and enduring gratitude.
We are also pleased to announce that Yasmin Senior has been appointed as Player Manager with immediate effect. Yasmin, a key member of the squad, will lead Thackley AFC Ladies into the WRCWFL Premier Division for the 2025/26 season.
Yasmin brings a wealth of experience to her new role, both on and off the pitch. A qualified Level 2 coach, she spent six years as Head of the Women’s Football Academy at Calderdale College, where she played a key role in developing young talent. As a player, Yasmin has competed in open-age football across West Yorkshire for over 20 years and captained Brighouse Town and Bradford City in the Women’s National League, as well as Ossett United in the North East Regional Premier League. Her playing career includes experience at Tier 3 level in the Women’s National League (North), bringing valuable insight and leadership to the squad as they prepare for the step up to the Premier Division.
Speaking on her appointment, Yasmin said:
“After joining Thackley last season it was quickly evident that the squad, the club support and structure was beyond the league status. Steve has laid the foundations for another successful season, and I am excited to support the club in taking our next steps forward in the league above!”
Anthony Nicholl will continue in his role as Assistant Manager, and Nick Hird will remain as Team Co-Ordinator, providing continuity and vital support as the team embarks on this exciting new chapter.
We look forward to the season ahead and to supporting Yasmin and her team in the WRCWFL Premier Division.
