Thackley played host to Colne on Tuesday night in their second friendly of the season. The Red Rose club play in the equivalent division of the North West Counties League as Thackley and this was their fourth warm up game.
The first half was a pretty even affair, both sides creating a couple of half chances. As the interval approached, Colne started to get on top and a good save by keeper Ivan Willis prevented them from going in front.
It was the away side that started the second half the stronger, but Thackley were containing them and created chances themselves. Colne took the lead in the sixty fifth minute when Jason Harte latched onto a ball knocked over the defence, he cut inside before hitting a low shot into the bottom corner. Five minutes later, they had the chance to increase their lead when Chris Davey pulled back a Colne forward as he entered the box. Danny Boyle took the spot kick but Willis guessed right and made a good save to deny him. Thackley were level on seventy five minutes, a super strike by Luke Rhodes from outside the box hitting the inside of the post before nestling in the net.
Overall, it was a good workout for both teams, a draw being a fair reflection of the game.
