Thackley's penultimate pre-season friendly was against North West Counties side Barnoldswick Town on Monday night. With seven players unavailable from last Tuesday's game against Knaresborough, Thackley fielded a relative inexperienced side. Coming in for their first appearances of the season were Jerry Springer, Deroy White and Joe Keen.
Barnoldswick started the better of the two sides in the first half as Thackley were taking a little time to settle. As the half progressed they began to match the home side. Both were creating opportunities and the Dennyboys had what looked like a good appeal for a penalty turned down, when Davey was upended in the box. Matt Convey made a good save just before the break to deny the home side an interval lead.
HT: 0-0.
Jerry Springer lasted less than five minutes after coming on for Jerome White at the start of the second half. Mike Garrod gave Thackley the lead on fifty seven minutes, running onto a ball played through the defence to slot home. Deroy White and Joe Keen were introduced in the second half and the Thackley debutant scored with a well placed shot on seventy five minutes.
After a slow start Thackley had matched their opponents in the first half. In the second, they were the better side and deserved their victory
