Overview:
Thackley make a quick return to action on Tuesday night when they travel to Doncaster to face Rossington Main.
This game presents an opportunity for the Dennyboys to continue their winning start to the league after the 1-0 win against Wombwell Town on the opening day of the season.
However, they will be facing a tough opposition, with Rossington coming into the fixture off the back of a 4-1 victory against Moulton in the Emirates FA Cup.
Opposition:
Rossington have been one of the sides to watch in the league since the early days of pre season, with their goalscoring habits definitely raising eyebrows across the NCEL Premier Division.
‘Rosso’ have posted some strong numbers up front, including a 5-0 victory over Wakefield AFC and putting three past a side from Doncaster Rovers and Club Thorne Colliery, alongside the aforementioned FA Cup result.
Their league campaign got off to a respectable start at Barton Town, leaving Lincolnshire with a point from a 1-1 draw.
Key Player:
The main goalscorer for Rossington has been Paul Sherburn, whose individual output has been very impressive.
Sherburn has found the net in both of Rossington’s competitive fixtures thus far, but also managed to find it four times during the pre season campaign, scoring braces against Wakefield and Club Thorne.
Sherburn also has a habit of scoring early, with all but one of his goals so far coming in the first half.
Previous Meeting:
The previous meeting between Thackley and Rossington was a classic for any neutral spectator that provided plenty of drama.
The Dennyboys would race into the lead before half time thanks to Antony Brown and Ben Grech-Brooksbank, before Ross Hannah got one back for the hosts.
Thackley managed to get into a 4-1 lead from there, but resilience from Rossington saw them score three times in 20 minutes thanks to goals from Dylan Mantle, Sherburn and another from Hannah to secure the craziest of draws.
