Overview:
Thackley return to NCEL Premier Division action on Saturday when they welcome newly promoted Horbury Town to the Meridian Stadium at Dennyfield.

Following on from their 1-0 win against Rossington Main on Tuesday after what was a fine display from the entire team, the Dennyboys will be hoping to claim another newly promoted scalp to continue their strong start to the campaign.

That result also saw the Dennyboys preserve their status as being “top of the league” after two games, alongside Penistone Church and Tadcaster Albion, both of whom also have perfect records.

The Oppsition:
The latest club to make the trip to BD10 are the reigning NCEL Division One champions Horbury Town, who arrive having made an indifferent start to their step five adventure.

Notably, Darren Barnes’ side have struggled to find the back of the net since their return to action at the start of pre season, having only scored twice since then.

Their competitive exploits thus far have shown some promise at the back, with a pair of 0-0 draws starting the campaign, with these coming against Knaresborough Town and Wombwell Town, the latter of these coming in the Emirates FA Cup.

However, these were then followed by a 4-0 defeat to Wombwell that confirmed their FA Cup exit at the first stage after a replay.

Previous Meeting:
The previous outing between Thackley and Horbury came during last season’s West Riding County Cup.

A much changed Dennyboys team gave a very good account of themselves, but it would be the hosts who took home the victory on the night by a 3-2 scoreline thanks to goals from James Cusworth, Billy Mole and Bradley Swain.

Finn Donovan and Ben Grech-Brooksbank would reduce the deficit to a single goal late on, but it would ultimately be too little too late, with Horbury holding out for the victory.
