Match Preview by Cayden Sands
Overview:
The Meridian Stadium at Dennyfield awaits for Thackley on Saturday when they welcome Beverley Town in the NCEL Premier Division.
Following last week’s win away at Handsworth FC, the optimism levels within the team and the club’s fanbase have grown and grown, particularly with that result allowing them to enter the top 10.
Furthermore, it is set to be another week taking the lead in the dugout for assistant manager Josh Walsh, who will be looking to get another win whilst manager Jamie Price is away.
The Opposition:
Beverley Town arrive in Bradford in the middle of another strong campaign in the league, with them currently sitting fourth in the table and in the play off places.
After a tough start to the season, the ‘Beavers’ have had a good run of form, picking up some notable results along the way.
These include a 4-0 win away at Handsworth and a 4-1 triumph at Albion Sports, whilst also managing a 1-0 victory in their local derby against Barton Town.
The team’s goalscoring exploits are clear, meaning Thackley will have to be on top of their game against a very tough opposition.
Key Player:
The runaway top goal scorer for Beverley has been Macauley Snelgrove, who currently has 12 goals in all competitions.
Plenty of these have been key goals, including efforts against sides such as Albion Sports, Parkgate, Eccleshill United, Rossington Main and Wombwell Town.
Snelgrove’s consistency in front of goal can’t be unnoticed, with him hoping to add to his tally in this game, though the Dennyboys will be determined to stop that.
Previous Meetings:
The most recent meeting between Thackley and Beverley came last season and saw the latter of the two sides pick up an emphatic win.
Coming during a good run of form, the game saw Cameron Connelly, Glen Sani and Alexander Markham pick up the goals in a 4-0 win for Beverley at Norwood Park.
This represented a near complete reversal on the meeting at the Meridian Stadium at Dennyfield when a Finn Donovan brace secured a 2-1 win in favour of the Dennyboys.
