Thackley AFC VS Rossington Main- Match Preview
Macron NCEL Premier Division- Saturday 22nd November 2025- Kick Off: 3.00pm
Match Preview by Cayden Sands
Overview:
Thackley make their return to NCEL Premier Division action as they welcome Rossington Main to the Meridian Stadium at Dennyfield on Saturday.
After the postponement of last week’s game against Wombwell Town, there is no doubt that the Dennyboys will be very eager to get back on the pitch and continue their good run of form that has seen them get strong results over the likes of Handsworth FC and Eccleshill United recently.
The team will also hope to sustain their position in the league’s top 10 as we officially get the second half of the season underway.
The Opposition:
Rossington Main make their way to BD10 on what can be described as a tough run as the second half of the season gets into full swing.
The campaign has largely seen ‘Rosso’ unable to put together a good set of results despite plenty of promise in their side.
The season’s high point for the team came in the Emirates FA Cup as they had the honour of hosting FC United Of Manchester
in a game that attracted a crowd that was just short of 1,500.
As for their league season, Rossington have had some good results, with these including a 4-0 win against Bottesford Town and also a 5-2 victory away at Parkgate, though as mentioned, Greg Young’s team have struggled to put a good run of results together.
Key Players:
Rossington’s main goal scorer this season has been Dylan Mantle, with him managing to net eight goals in all competitions.
The team’s assistant manager Ross Hannah has proven to be as helpful on the pitch as he is off it, with him having five goals to his name.
Previous Meeting:
Thackley and Rossington have already met this season in both sides’ second matches of the league campaign.
In what turned out to be an exciting affair for the neutral, the Dennyboys would triumph with a 1-0 victory thanks to Nathan Hunt, who found the net just before half time.
This allowed Thackley to hold out for a very important win.
