Thackley AFC V Frickley Atheltic- Match Preview
Macron NCEL Premier Division- Saturday 6th December 2025- Kick Off: 3.00pm
Match Preview by Cayden Sands
Overview:
Thackley make their home return on Saturday when they face Frickley Athletic at the Meridian Stadium at Dennyfield.
This game follows on from last week’s defeat at Horbury Town, in which the team surrendered a two goal lead in difficult conditions, making this latest test more important.
Adding to that factor, a second postponement of the fixture away at Wombwell Town has disrupted the Dennyboys’ plans, with more inconveniences expected during these winter months, especially with the weather conditions.
The Opposition:
Frickley Athletic arrive at this fixture at an important point of their season.
The ‘Blues’ currently sit 16th in the league table, just three points behind Thackley and four points above the relegation zone.
Despite this, their campaign has had some strong points, such as their 2-0 triumph over Penistone Church, a notable goalless draw with Liversedge, a stunning a 4-1 victory against Beverley Town and of course, their dramatic 7-6 win against Bottesford Town in the NCEL League Cup.
Key Players:
Frickley’s top goalscorer race is currently tied, with Thomas Alngohuro scoring five goals in the league, with him also having a single one to his name in cup competitions.
Sharing the same total in all competitions with Alngohuro is Ifeanyi Nnenanua, who has three in the league and three in other competitions.
Previous Meeting:
The previous fixture between Frickley and Thackley saw the hosts come out the winners, with the Dennyboys leaving South Elmsall empty handed.
In a game that saw the side do everything but score, Luis Afonso-Ferreira’s effort gave Frickley a narrow 1-0 win on the occasion as Thackley conceded their first goal of the season in the NCEL Premier Division.
