Thackley AFC V Frickley Atheltic- Match Report
Macron NCEL Premier Division- Saturday 6th December 2025- Kick Off 3.00pm
Match Report by Cayden Sands
A clinical showing in front of goal condemned Thackley to a 7-0 defeat against Frickley Athletic.
Frickley began the game well, with Feanyi Nnenanya hitting the bar on the six minute mark, though Thackley would recover from this, having some good moments of their own.
The hosts would have some opportunities following the 20 minute mark, firstly seeing Alfie Gibbon hit the post in the 21st minute after a slide tackle turned into an unexpected effort at goal, before Alex Washington would hit the crossbar himself just four minutes later with a good effort from some distance out.
However, it would be the visiting side who took the lead shortly after this, with Lucas Robinson going on a solo run before scoring with a curled effort after 26 minutes.
Both teams would have opportunities after this opener, with Liam Wilson making a fine stop after an effort inside the box from Frickley on the 39 minute mark, with Luke Brooks then having a very good chance for Thackley soon after that he only managed to curl wide and out of play.
The first half would come an end following this effort from Brooks, with Thackley having it all to do after the interval.
HALF TIME: Thackley AFC 0-1 Frickley Athletic
Frickley began the second half in fine form, with the 53rd minute being the start of a remarkable goal scoring run that saw Robinson score twice in two minutes to bag his hat trick.
The 58th minute had Thomas Algonhuro get a goal of his own, scoring a header from a rebound to get the visiting team’s fourth of the game.
This streak of goals continued on the 61st minute, with Nnenanya finally getting a goal after his earlier miss, beating Wilson with a well taken effort.
The Dennyboys then opted to make a number of substitutions in all areas of the pitch, but this wouldn’t be enough in terms of stopping the visitors’ scoring, with Robinson grabbing his fourth of the game on the 65 minute mark.
The game would go from bad to worse for the Dennyboys when on the 74 minute mark, recently introduced substitution Kam Basi was sent off, meaning that the team had to play out the game’s remaining minutes with 10 men.
The visitors made the most of their one man advantage, managing to score their final goal of the game on the 83 minute mark, with it being scored by Elliott Andrew.
The rest of the match passed without much of note, with the referee’s whistle bringing to an end a simply horrendous afternoon for the Dennyboys and a stunning display from Frickley.
