Albion Sports V Thackley AFC- Match Preview
Macron NCEL Premier Division- Saturday 27th December 2025- Kick Off: 2.00pm
Match Preview by Cayden Sands
Overview:
It’s derby day for Thackley on Saturday as they travel to Myra Shay to face Albion Sports.
Following last week’s 1-1 draw with Barton Town, Jamie Price’s team will hope to build on the momentum gained with that result, especially in what will be a huge local encounter.
An interesting factor heading into the game will be the return of Kam Basi to Albion, with the defensive player playing returning to his former club for the first time since leaving after spending a significant amount of time in and around the club.
The Opposition:
Albion Sports currently occupy one of the two places in the relegation zone of the NCEL Premier Division, with them being second bottom of the league.
The season has had some good points, including a 3-1 victory over Beverley Town in the NCEL League cup, their 2-1 win against Campion AFC, a strong showing in the FA Vase and a few other strong results.
Their recent loss away at Sheffield FC was also notable, with it being by a 10-2 scoreline, with the team now looking to show strength and bounce back quickly.
Key Player:
The main man going forward for Albion is definitely prolific goalscorer Nathan Cartman, who sits on a very good 22 goals this season.
Cartman’s goal scoring statistics show Albion’s capacity as a team that can score goals, despite what the table says.
Previous Meeting:
Albion and Thackley previously met earlier on this season, with Jamie Price’s team obtaining a 3-1 victory at the Meridian Stadium at Dennyfield.
Efforts from Paul Walker, Hass Gorji and Josh Owen confirmed a very important win for the side.

The ground has covered areas and a catering outlet, selling a variety of refreshments.
