Thackley AFC V Tadcaster Albion- Match Preview
Macron NCEL Premier Division- Saturday 10th January 2026- Kick Off 3.00pm
Match Preview by Cayden Sands
Overview:
Thackley return to the Meridian Stadium at Dennyfield on Saturday as they face Tadcaster Albion.
Overview:
This fixture marks the club’s first home game of the new year after last week’s trip to Bottesford Town, a game that saw the Dennyboys denied all the points late on.
Hopes will also be present that the team can improve their form at home in 2026, with this fixture providing the perfect opportunity to get an important win on the board.
The Opposition:
Tadcaster Albion are enjoying a strong season in the NCEL Premier Division after a disappointing showing in the previous campaign.
The ‘Brewers’ occupy sixth spot in the league table and have proven themselves as a certain play off contender.
Some positive results since their most recent meeting with Thackley include their 3-0 win against Parkgate, a local derby victory against Pickering Town by the same scoreline and a 1-0 triumph against Sheffield FC, whilst they also picked up another derby day win, this time against Knaresborough Town, defeating them 2-0.
However, the side’s form has been less positive in recent weeks, setting the stage for an interesting game.
Key Players:
The most prolific scorer for Tadcaster by far is Oliver Green, who currently has a total of 18 goals in all competitions.
There will also be some familiar faces returning to BD10 on this occasion in the form of Tawheed Ahmed and Alex Charlesworth.
The former was a big part of last season’s play off squad, scoring some important goals and becoming a fan favourite player in the process, with many of his contributions coming from the bench.
The latter spent a brief time with the Dennyboys at the start of this season, but he became a regular name on the team sheet and a very reliable player in the squad before his departure for North Yorkshire.
Previous Meeting:
The previous meeting between Thackley and Tadcaster came back during the early part of the season, with the teams sharing the points in a 1-1 draw.
The hosts would take the lead through Green, but they would be pegged back by Tom Whelan, whose effort managed to secure a valuable point for Jamie Price’s team.
