Macron NCEL Premier Division- Saturday 21st March 2026- Kick Off: 3.00pm
Match Preview by Cayden Sands
Overview:
It’s another home game for Thackley as they welcome Handsworth FC to the Meridian Stadium at Dennyfield.
Following on from last week’s late 2-1 defeat away at Sheffield FC, Jamie Price’s team will be looking to return to winning ways as the season winds down, particularly as they continue their search for that elusive 40 point mark.
The Opposition:
Handsworth FC find themselves still very much in the NCEL Premier Division play off race.
The ‘Ambers’ currently find themselves on 58 points, with them needing results to go their way should they hope for any chance to be part of the play offs.
This season has been a positive one for the team, with them picking up plenty of notable results since their previous meeting with Thackley.
These include a 2-1 triumph against fellow play off hopefuls Barton Town and their 3-1 win against Tadcaster Albion, alongside their very impressive 3-1 victory against Beverley Town.
However, they have also suffered a very notable defeat, a 7-1 loss to Campion AFC.
Key Players:
Leading the goal scoring numbers for the team is Mitchell Dunne, who sits on 16 goals in all competitions.
Behind him is Scott Ruthven, with him currently having ten to his name, whilst Joshua Nodder and Jordan Hines both sit on six respectively.
Previous Meeting:
The previous game between Thackley and Handsworth was an exciting encounter in which Thackley won by a 2-1 scoreline.
Regarded as one of the side’s best performances of the season, an opener from Lewis Sugden and a winner from Hass Gorji secured the points in a real show of resilience after Ben Harriott’s equaliser.
