Overview:
Thackley return to action after the weekend’s postponement with the tough test of Albion Sports at Dennyfield.
Danny Forrest’s side will be raring to go for this fixture after the recent disruption, with there also existing a hope that the side can return to winning form after a recent tough run.
The Opposition:
Visiting Dennyfield are local friends and rivals Albion Sports, who like the Dennyboys, have enjoyed a strong campaign so far, competing with some of the very best teams in the league.
More interestingly however, Albion have also enjoyed a great run in this year’s FA Vase, a cup they still find themselves participating in now.
Their latest exploit in that competition was a classic and a true game for the neutral as a 5-5 draw with Padiham in which Albion came from behind eventually saw them win the game thanks to an emphatic victory in the penalty shoot out.
As for their league form, Albion have made a habit of scoring goals, putting three or more past the likes of Hallam, Parkgate, Penistone Church and Pickering Town in recent fixtures, whilst they also managed to defeat local rivals Campion 2-1.
By some distance the team’s top goal scorer so far this season is Nathan Cartman, who has managed to score a strong 18 goals in all competitions, with the hope that his form can lead to both an extension of the FA Vase run and an improvement in the club’s league position.
Previous Meetings:
Thackley and Albion would swap victories last season, with the first encounter at Dennyfield seeing the hosts emerge victorious after goals from Asa Mitchell and Edson Prata capped off a good display to seal a 2-0 victory on the day.
However, the return fixture at Horsfall proved to be the opposite, with Finn Donovan’s goal for the Dennyboys proving to be meaningless in an eventual 3-1 loss that saw Ashley Flynn and Robbie Fox score for Albion.
