A great second away win of the season for Thackley who battled hard as monsoon weather didn’t dampen the women's spirits. The opener came when Beth Davies battled hard in front of Republicas back line before feeding Rachael White through on goal to calmly slot past the keeper. It was then provider turned receiver as Davies latched onto a left footed cross from Rosie Gill only for it to be chalked off as offside. Thackley continued to pressure to the Republica goal with crosses from both sides, Molly Ellis then finding Davies whose effort was just wide. It looked like a matter of when rather than if Thackley would double their lead and it finally came when Davies got onto the end of a cross from Zoe Roberts to lob the keeper and make it 2-0 at half time. The second half came with more of the same, Thackley corners causing trouble in the Republica area but they managed to clear on numerous occasions. The third and final goal came from some neat interplay between Ellis and White who finished the move with a slick finish past the keeper. A fantastic team effort even in the weather conditions to secure the 3 points for Thackley AFC Ladies and continue their winning start to the season.
