The Denny Girls continue their winning ways

When arriving at Hepworth Thackley Ladies were greeted with panoramic hill views, and on the horizon, the knowledge that a win would secure promotion straight back to the Premier Division. It was not going to be plain sailing though with a depleted squad and the initial sun and clear skies turning into wind and rain just before kick off. A similar story to most games faced the Dennygirls early on, who opted to play uphill in the first half, plenty of chances, plenty of possession but not much to show for it. Rosie Gill, Molly Ellis, Sophie Moulden and Rachael White all had chances within the first 20 minutes which were either well saved or found themselves on the wrong side of the uprights. The goal was coming though and Thackley stayed calm whilst continuing to apply pressure and when in the 33rd minute Moulden swung a ball in with Yasmin Senior meeting the cross and laying off captain Chelsea Morton who found the top corner with her effort. It was nearly 2-0 when in the 40th minute Beth Davies 40 yard rocket struck and wobbled the bar. The last attack of the half saw Morton and Ellis interlinking well again, finding Moulden who would lay it back to Ellis in space to cut in and set up Victory Chinweuba but her shot went agonisingly over the bar.

With the Dennygirls downhill in the second half it was not long until they doubled their lead though, and it was Chinweuba with her first goal for the club who chased down the resolute Hepworth defence, stealing the ball and slotting home. With a taste for goal now Chinweuba found herself with the ball just inside the area and chipped the goalkeeper to double her goal tally and bring the score to 3-0. Moulden in the 65th minute looked up from 30 yards out and fancied her chances, and were it not for some excellent goalkeeping it would have been 4-0 but it was tipped over. Chinweuba again was front and centre on the 80th minute when she was fouled in the area, up stepped Rachael White to open her scoring for the game. She would quickly double her own tally today just 2 minutes later when Morton cut the ball back for her to blast home.

Full time Hepworth United 0 - 5 Thackley Ladies

With that the Dennygirls confirm promotion back to the Premier Division.
