Thackley AFC Women v Bottesford Town Women
North East Regional Women’s Football League
Sunday 13 September 2026 – 2.00pm
Thackley AFC
Thackley AFC Women return to league action this Sunday when they welcome Bottesford Town FC Women to Dennyfield for their second fixture of the North East Regional Women’s Football League season, and Bottesford’s first league fixture of the season.
Having started their campaign in impressive fashion with a 4–0 away victory at Cleethorpes Town Ladies, Thackley will be looking to build on that performance and continue their positive start to life at regional level.
The opening-day result was an excellent introduction to the new league, with Thackley showing the attacking threat and organisation that helped them secure back-to-back promotions over the previous two seasons. The clean sheet will also have pleased manager Yasmin Senior, particularly with the team having had to manage squad availability during pre-season and the early part of the campaign.
Standing in their way are Bottesford Town Women, who are themselves embarking on an important new chapter.
A new challenge for Bottesford
Bottesford Town's senior women's team was established ahead of the 2024–25 season, when the club announced plans to enter the Lincolnshire Women & Girls' County Football League.
Their progress since then has been rapid.
After gaining experience during their first season, Bottesford produced a much stronger campaign in 2025–26, scoring heavily in a number of fixtures. Their results included a 10–0 victory over Woodhall Spa United Ladies, a 7–1 win against Brigg Town and a 9–1 victory over Boston Town Ladies.
That progress has now taken them into the North East Regional Women's Football League, where they will face a considerably higher level of competition.
Bottesford travelled to Altofts Ladies on 6 September in the Adobe Women’s FA cup and were beaten 6–1.
They will therefore arrive at Dennyfield determined to respond and show that they can compete at this higher level.
Two clubs on a similar journey
Sunday's fixture provides an interesting meeting between two clubs whose women's teams have experienced rapid development.
For Thackley, promotion to the North East Regional Women's Football League represents the next step following two successive promotions and last season's impressive league-winning campaign.
For Bottesford, this is only their third season of senior women's football, making their arrival at regional level an impressive achievement in itself.
Thackley looking to make home advantage count
After opening the season with a convincing away win, Thackley will be keen to produce another strong performance in front of their home support.
The 4–0 victory at Cleethorpes provides plenty of encouragement, but manager Yasmin Senior will be aware that Bottesford's opening-day defeat should not be taken as an indication of what to expect.
With both sides adapting to the demands of a new league, Sunday's encounter could provide another valuable test of Thackley's ability to compete consistently at regional level.
The Dennyfield side will be hoping that the momentum from last week's victory can continue, while Bottesford will be looking to bounce back immediately.
Kick-off is 2.00pm at Thackley AFC on Sunday 13 September.
Another new challenge awaits Thackley Women — and after such an impressive start, they will be looking to make it two wins from two.
