Thackley AFC Women were held to a 1–1 draw by Altofts Ladies at home, ending their run of three consecutive league victories.
Thackley went into the game looking to continue their excellent start to the league campaign, but faced an Altofts side that had already shown their strength in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup despite having played only one league fixture. From the opening whistle, it was clear that this would be a closely contested encounter.
Thackley started brightly, moving the ball confidently from left to right and putting early pressure on the Altofts defence. However, it was the visitors who took the lead after just eight minutes.
Altofts worked the ball down their right flank, with their number five chasing the ball towards the corner before delivering it into the centre. The cross was missed by both an Altofts attacker and a Thackley defender, allowing another Altofts player who had made a run behind the Thackley defence to collect the ball. She made no mistake, placing her shot into the far corner of the net.

Thackley responded immediately, stepping up the pressure and looking to get back into the game. Strong tackling from Yasmin Senior, combined with the attacking runs of Molly Ellis, Chelsea Morton and Charlie Elise, kept the visitors' defence under pressure.
Thackley were awarded a free kick just outside the Altofts penalty area, with Elise stepping up to take it. From around 30 yards, she struck a powerful effort towards goal. The Altofts goalkeeper was beaten, but the ball crashed against the crossbar and bounced clear.
The game continued at a high tempo, with both sides showing plenty of attacking intent while their respective defences worked hard to keep the scoreline unchanged.
Ellis produced an excellent run down the right before delivering a cross into the penalty area, where Morton narrowly headed wide.
At the other end, Altofts came close to extending their lead when a long-range effort from around 35 yards was brilliantly tipped onto the crossbar by Thackley goalkeeper Bryony Morris. The ball fell to an Altofts player, but Morris was quickly back on her feet to make an excellent point-blank save and keep Thackley in the game.

The second half continued in much the same way as the first, with both sides producing attacking football and both defences standing firm.
Thackley continued to look for an equaliser and eventually got their reward in the 66th minute.
A move down the left saw Kayley Hird play the ball to Senior, who delivered a long pass into the Altofts penalty area. Morton timed her run perfectly, getting between two defenders and meeting the ball first time.
The Altofts goalkeeper managed to get a hand to the shot, but Morton’s effort had too much power and found the back of the net.

The goal gave Thackley renewed momentum and they continued to control much of the possession during the remainder of the game. They created several further opportunities as they searched for the winning goal, but the Altofts defence stood firm and Thackley were unable to find the decisive finish.
Despite late pressure from Thackley, the visitors held on to secure a share of the points.
