Thackley AFC Women return to Dennyfield this Sunday as they welcome Cleethorpes Town Ladies for another important fixture in the North East Regional Women’s Football League Southern Division.
Thackley have established themselves as a team to watch in the Southern Division, with their results reflecting the confidence and consistency they have brought into the new campaign. The squad’s blend of experience and fresh talent has given Yasmin Senior plenty to work with, and Sunday offers another opportunity to show their quality. Their opening six league fixtures produced five wins and one draw, earning them 16 points and top spot in the Southern Division. A 4–0 home victory over Sheffield Wednesday Ladies on 11 October was another convincing performance, following an exciting 4–3 away win against Evolution Ladies.
Thackley’s challenge now is to maintain those standards, remain focused and continue collecting valuable points as the season progresses.
Cleethorpes Looking to Turn Their Season Around
Cleethorpes Town Ladies arrive at Dennyfield looking to improve their league fortunes after a difficult start to the campaign.
The visitors have found results hard to come by in their opening fixtures, with their early-season form leaving them towards the foot of the Southern Division table. However, they will be determined to make life difficult for the league leaders and take encouragement from the opportunity to put their recent results behind them.
The two sides have already met this season, when Thackley began their regional league campaign with a 4–0 victory away at Cleethorpes on 6 September. That result will give the home side confidence, but Sunday’s encounter presents a fresh challenge, and Thackley will need to approach the game with the same determination and discipline that have characterised their performances so far.
Another Test of Thackley’s Ambitions
For Thackley, this fixture is about more than maintaining their unbeaten record. Their first season in the regional league represents another significant step in the club’s development, and every match provides an opportunity to demonstrate that they belong at this level.
The team have shown they can score goals, defend resolutely and find ways to win closely contested matches. Those qualities will be important again as they look to turn a strong start into a sustained promotion challenge.
With home advantage and the support of their Dennyfield followers, Thackley will be hoping to deliver another positive performance and keep their momentum going.
Supporters are encouraged to come along, get behind the team and help create a great atmosphere for the players.
